Health and Physical Education is an integral part of the curriculum at Taylors Lakes Primary School. All children participate in weekly Sport classes, planned and run by specialist Physical Education teachers. Over a two-year cycle all students from grades 3 to 6 are involved in units of skill-based, sport-specific physical education lessons. In addition to those core sports listed below, students participate in units of athletics, dance, fitness, and gymnastics.

Grades foundation to two are indirectly exposed to these same team sports through specific fundamental motor skill development, locomotor movement and minor and modified games. In addition, foundation students participate in both a weekly Perceptual Motor Skills Program (PMP) and an intensive 10-day swimming program.

 

Each year level receives the chance to be involved in extra sporting events ranging from interschool sports, various sporting gala days, clinics and tournaments to representing our school in swimming, cross country, athletics and sports trials at District, Division, Regional and State level.

 

Students are recognised and regularly rewarded for their enthusiasm, positive behaviour, commitment and involvement by receiving ‘Physical Education Pupil of the Week’ and ‘Physical Education Grade of the Week’ awards. Special sport announcements made at weekly school assemblies where ribbons, medals and certificates are presented to high achievers in many fields of sporting excellence.  The values Taylors Lakes Primary school promotes in Physical Education are sportsmanship, fair play and striving to achieve one’s personal best.
